Bandwidth- and how to keep it low

Our website has seen a significant increase in bandwidth (within the last couple of months) and when we looked at the page history it is linked to our main wordpress page. Is there anything that we can do to decrease this number. We assume it’s images, comments, etc. loading on our blog (or could it be something else, like spybot)
