I have been trying to ban a range of ips using wildcards. For example 11.22.***.*** When I then save it uncheckecks the ban users box which means the feature wont work.

Also I want to ban what might be a user agent which seems to be associated with the large number of Italy IPs involved in a brute force attack.

Is fastwebnet.it/ considered a user agent and if so do I simply enter that in the ban user agent box?

  • I’ve been having the EXACT same problem. What’s going on?

Entered your example address and then saved. Got 3(!) error msgs:

11.22.***.*** is not a valid address in the ban users box.
    etc

So it does not accept this.

    Try address 11.22.*.*

User Agent is info like you can find in the iThemes Security Dashboard page under System Information – User Information – User Agent.
It basically identifies the browser (agent) used by the user(or bot).
Not sure whether fastwebnet.it/ qualifies as a User Agent string.
