Hi, my host Kinsta has banned your plugin (2 years ago?). Were you guys given this notice:
    “plugin has been:
Banned because it’s been found to run up a huge amount of disk space and can abuse disk i/o which can cause platform instability.”

Annoyed they have banned it as i wanted to try it today… Have you guys fixed this issue in the past 2 years? can i try and get Kinsta to unban it ?

The plugin does not have the issue that they describe.
It is more likely that they are trying to vendor-lock you and not allow you to export a website out from their platform.

    Hello Pa7 and Yani.

The All-in-One WP Migration plugin was banned on Kinsta’s platform back on August 17th, 2018 as users were using the backup functionality of the plugin which caused excessive disk i/o operations that affected our public infrastructure negatively.

I’ve personally used the plugin in the past and have found it to be extremely helpful in migrating sites. Kinsta does not ‘vendor lock’ as was stated and provides our own downloadable backups which are available directly from within MyKinsta for download.

    https://kinsta.com/knowledgebase/wordpress-backups/#downloadable-backups

Kinsta has you covered for backups as we automatically take a snapshot of your site every day and provide upgradeable options to snapshot every 6 hours or every hour. This snapshot is of your entire site’s config, including the operating system.

I would love to see the All in One Migration plugin available on the Kinsta platform and if the developers are willing to work with us to make that happen, we can certainly remove it from our banned list.

@yaniiliev – To delist the plugin, we would essentially need the plugin to detect Kinsta’s infrastructure and disable the backup option.

There are a few different ways to do this, but one of the easiest ones is to just check for the $_SERVER['KINSTA_CACHE_ZONE'] variable. If it exists, the site is hosted on our infrastructure.

I’d be glad to start up a dialog with you and your development team on how we could begin to support your plugin. Let me know what the best method is to contact you directly and we’ll get started.

Jeff, I think the delisting of the plugin is not accurate based on the reasons described in your post.

The plugin does not have an option to do scheduled backups.
Exporting a website (creating a backup) is a manual, user-triggered process.

To create a website export, an administrator of the website needs to login into wp-admin dashboard, go to All-in-One WP Migration → Export page then click on Export to file.
Alternatively, an administrator can go to All-in-One WP Migration → Backups page and click on Create a backup button which in turn runs Export to file to produce a backup.

You can contact the team behind the plugin via this form.

Thanks @yaniiliev – I will reach out to the team that handles this and if we have any questions, we’ll send you contact over your contact form.

Not to crash the party, but I just joined up with Kinsta and was both disappointed and confused when told I could not use AIO WP Migration. That’s how I ended up here reading this thread.

It’s simultaneously banned AND listed as a one of the “powerful migration plugins” by Kinsta themselves: https://kinsta.com/blog/wordpress-migration-plugins/ (link off their migration instructions page),

Since I have a license for it and the Multi-site extension, I was hoping to use it to migrate my site over. Bummed that we’re in this stalemate.

Been almost 3 months @kinstahosting . Probably should re-evaluate this.
