bad site map due to translation of SIRV URL

I opened this topic a day before taking holidays. I’m back now and here is the link to the About Us page: https://volkelstore.com/about-us/

The image on this page is generated from our sirv image plugin. However, Yoast did not create the proper xml markup which created a bad sitemap that I had to manually adjust.

Also, I would like to inform you of the response I received from our SIRV customer support on this matter:

Just to be clear, Sirv requires that the ‘&’ character remains as ‘&’. The URL will break if it is changed to ‘& amp ;’

(For ‘& amp ;’ I have spaced the characters out so it isn’t converted back to ‘&’ in the email).

Hi, I am experiencing the same issue with the Free version of Yoast.

I have added the site map to Google search console and Google reports that it cannot read the /page-sitemap.xml and gives the error:

“We were unable to read your Sitemap. It may contain an entry we are unable to recognise. Please validate your Sitemap before resubmitting.”

When I put the generated site map thru an xml validator (https://www.xmlvalidation.com) I get the following error:

“42:120 The reference to entity “h” must end with the ‘;’ delimiter.”

Maybe Yoast will finally acknowledge that they own this bug.

I should note that we got rid of the sitemap issue by changing the elementor image size for the page. Not a fix, but a workaround.
