    Hi @rubenvankempen,

thanks for your post, and sorry for the trouble.

I assume that you mean “changing column widths” when you talk about “cropping a column”? I’m really sorry that you couldn’t yet achieve the desired results here. Setting the widths of table columns can indeed be tricky, as there are many influences, like the browser, the theme, and of course the content of the table.

To offer the best flexibility for this, TablePress uses a CSS approach, so that you could for example use “Custom CSS” code like https://tablepress.org/faq/column-widths/ to set column widths. In many cases, this will work fine, but there are edge cases. Other approaches might be necessary then. If you please post a link to the page with the table where this problem happens, I’ll be more than happy to take a direct look and make suggestions!

Again, I’m really sorry that you had such a bad start to your TablePress experience. Please let me assure you that I’ll be more than happy to make up for it so that you can give TablePress a second chance!

    Best Regards,
    Tobias

    Hi Tobias,

    Thanks for your kind reply.
The column width is exactly what I mean.
Unfortunately I couldn’t get it done, not even with css.
So after 20-30 minutes trying to get it work I looked for an alternative, and found it.
For now I will skip TablePress, but maybe I will come back, because I am developing myself in building webpages.

For TablePress: maybe it’s a good idea to provide some help function for the css-codes. And also better communication where to put it. I kept searching over and over in the different pages on WordPress dashboard.

    Have a nice day!

    Hi Ruben,

thanks for getting back to me so quickly, I really appreciate it!

And it’s great to hear that you found an alternative solution for your site! To me, this is actually the most important thing!

Now, I’m not exactly sure what kind of help with the CSS you need, but you have probably seen the examples in the FAQ at https://tablepress.org/faq/ and the explanations in the Documentation at https://tablepress.org/documentation/ ? There, it explains that the best place to add CSS code is the “Custom CSS” text field on the “Plugin Options” screen of TablePress.

If you ever have trouble with TablePress in the future, please don’t hesitate to get in touch! I’ll be available to help and make your experience with TablePress a good one!

    Best wishes,
    Tobias
