• I’ve tried BackWPup on some of my sites and it works well. But there is one site with quite a lot of files (approx. 300 megabytes), where the daily file backup on one day fails “Cannto transfer backup to FTP server”. The next day the same backup works well – without any changes.
    The backup is sent to my own FileZilla FTP-server, so I cann offer not only the BackWPup logs, but also the FileZilla-Server logs.

    Hi @webwerker

    please go to BackWPUp -> Settings -> Logs -> Logging Level -> Debug(not translated ).
    If in the future, the issue happens, give me the latest log file at BackWpUp -> Logs.
    Also, give me the FTP server log too ??

    After searching to Google, I think the problem is because of your Windows server have some issue with network share drive, so the possible solution I found on https://forum.filezilla-project.org/viewtopic.php?t=5559
    is

    add the user System to the specified directory for that user.
    And add modifying right for the user System.

    I’ve read the link regarding Windows network drive.

    BUT: Every day there are 2 backups from the same website to the same FTP-server/directory.
    1. Database backup
    2. File backup
    The database backup NEVER failed so far. The file backup fails most of the times. As the receiving end (FileZilla, Windows Server) is always the same, I would expect the same issues with the database backup. But that NEVER fails.

    one more info:
    Same website, same FTP-server (FileZilla), but another backup-Plugin: Updraft Plus.
    Backup of files & database works flawlessly.

    Obviously there is (sometimes) a FTP-transfer problem with BackWPup. I really appreciate the work you are doing with BackWPup and would rather stick to it than switch to Updraft.

    How can we solve the FTP-problem and how can I support?

    So Updraft always works for you?
    Could you please try backup using Updraft again to see if it still works, I have talked with our developer and he said that maybe the server get more connections than the numbers allowed by the admin of the server

    Dear duongcuong96,

    I will try Updraft Plus for a few more days.

    After that I will switch back to BackWPup and bypass the limits in FileZilla server for:
    * max. connection count
    * connection limit per IP

    before I update the plugin & try again I’d like to show the results of the test with UpdraftPlus:

    Not one fault in more than one month.
    Same website, same FTP-server, different backup-plugin.
    UpdraftPlus delivers.
