• hello backWPup-support!

    problem:
    backup-job with ftp-destination reports status=OK (successfull)
    but ftp-destination EMPTY !

    details:
    I’ve created a job with destination: ftp
    The ftp-destination-folder has the name “backup”.
    the ftp-destination has the permissions (chmod) = 777

    Checking the protocols:
    backWPup-job-status = OK, job has correct timestamp, job ended without any warning or errors!
    BUT the destination-folder is EMPTY!

    Why backWPup reports everything is fine?
    Nothing is fine, if you do not have backup files!

    Obviously backWPup do not check correct transmission to ftp-destination:
    A simple file check like “file exits” after transmission to ftp-transmission would will find the problem!

    Please correct this bug in your software!

    Best greeting from nothern german
    yours Carsten

    @happylchf
    hmm, could you check if there is any file in BackWPUp -> backups?
    Also, the directory of /html/backup ?

    (@happylchf)

    today I added to the backup-job a second destination: “backup to folder”.

    “Backup to folder” works fine!
    -> I can find the backup-file under:
    /wordpress_de-2017-10-02-dbd2d5/wp-content/uploads/backwpup-2d5360-backups/

    But FTP destination is still EMPTY !

    Hi @happylchf
    Sorry I really not sure how that possible :/, never see any kind of issue like this before ??
    Could you please try to test FTP with other backup plugins with the same exact config( all set back up to /html/backup), is there any difference?
    Thank you

    The problem I reported is NOT why the FTP do not work!
    The problem is: Why backWPup reports everything is OK?
    A simple check after storing to the FTP-destination should detect that it has not stored the data correctly!
    After writing data to a destination it must be verified that the data was stored correctly!!!
