I’ve used your plugin for several years now on my other websites and have never had a problem until I tried using it on a WordPress 4.4.1 site. The plugin (version 3.4.1) installed correctly but it does not perform any backups, either manually or scheduled. Do you have any kind of troubleshooting guide or any suggestions. I have a few other plugins installed, but they are the same ones I’ve used on my other sites.

We’ve seen a few issues come up, especially in relation with the 4.4.1 update of WordPress’ – but nothing quite like that.

We do have a troubleshooting guide available on our site: https://bwp.hmn.md/support-center/ – look for the FAQs as well as the Troubleshooting section.

If you are still having issues after the latest release (3.4.2) you might also drop me a line in the support module and we’ll maybe be able to take a deeper look.

I couldn’t find anything in the FAQ that helped. I was using the Weaver Xtreme theme but switched over to Twenty Fifteen but that did not solve the problem. I also tried deactivating all the other plugins. Still didn’t solve the problem. I have it set up for daily backup at 12 pm and it did do a backup on Monday & today but I’m not sure if it was the auto that did it or me manually clicking “run”. Regardless, I have a “Manual” schedule set up and a “Daily” and when I click “run” in both schedules, I see the wheel spin but nothing happens.

Hey there – did you verify if you were updated to the most recent version of the plugin? We’re on 3.4.2

So let’s confirm results on the basic troubleshooting stuff:
    – switching to default theme; no change
    – deactivated other plugins; no change
Have you tried setting JUST a database backup?
    – manually?
    – on a schedule?
    – are both or is one successful?
Have you tried setting up JUST a files-only backup (not the complete)?
    – manually?
    – on a schedule?
    – are both or is one successful?
Depending on results from ^^files-only backup; can you try excluding the wp-content folder? This is only to test if it completes successfully at a much smaller file size. If you haven’t already, please try this and also report the results.

    Thanks

I am using WordPress 4.4.1 and BackUpWordPress 3.4.2.

Switching to the WP Twenty Fifteen theme did not fix it.

Deactivating all plugins did not fix it.

I set up the following schedules and none of them are working:

    File Manually
    Complete Daily
    Database Twice Daily
    File Twice Daily

When I click on “Run Now” in each of those schedules, the wheel spins then stops but no backups are made.

I also tired excluding the wp-content folder but that didn’t fix it either. There isn’t much in that folder; I’m in the early stages of building the website.

I switched from Firefox to Chrome; still didn’t fix it.

Does your program create a log for troubleshooting?

The developers are looking into having a log for troubleshooting – you aren’t the first to ask ??

So do me a favor – ask your host if there are any disabled functions on your server, like shell_exec or something like that?
    Thanks,

I have about five other websites on that server and Back-Up WordPress is working fine on all other websites. But I think I found the problem. The only plugin I did not deactivate was my Maintenance Mode plugin because I want to keep my site offline while I build it. So I tried deactivating that plugin and putting my site online and now BackupWordPress works fine. Which is odd because with all my other sites, BackupWordPress works OK when my site is in maintenance mode.

Do you know of another maintenance mode plugin that works better with your plugin?

All I know is it wasn’t designed to work under a maintenance mode, so if it did work on some sites it shouldn’t have. Maybe take it out of maintenance mode long enough to run the backup every couple of days or before/after making many changes to the site?

Yeah, I guess that’s what I will have to do. Thanks.
