    I have used Updraftplus for years with no problems. Even restored sites with the backups. But lately I’ve been noticing it’s taking longer and longer and now VERY LONG for some of my websites to back up. They seem to crap out constantly. They do eventually finish, but it can take the good part of an hour sometimes. It never used to take this long and the site hasn’t grown significantly.

    The warning message that I am getting is this:
    Warning: Your website is visited infrequently and UpdraftPlus is not getting the resources it hoped for; please read this page:

    But it’s not true, my site IS visited quite frequently.

    Now the one thing that has changed recently is that due to excessive CPU usage, I had to turn off WP Cron and set cron jobs manually through CPanel. It’s the only thing I could figure out that actually brought the usage down. (I’m with Siteground, which I’m now reading is a common problem with this host, excessive CPU usage warnings.) So I imagine this must be related?

    I have no idea how to address it though, to get rid of the warnings and to speed up the backups. Help?

    To help us work out the cause of your problem, can you please send us a copy of the backup log?
    You can find this log in the ‘wp-content/updraft’ directory of your site via FTP.
    You can send the log file as an attachment or copy the contents into an online tool (such as https://pastebin.com/ )

    Ok thanks! Where do I send it? Or do I post it here? I have the free version, so I thought I couldn’t use your website support and had to post here.

    Can you please check the space available at your GoogleDrive account?

    The log shows:
    8071.621 (5) Google Drive: quota usage: used=51699.6 MB, total=102400 MB, available=50700.4 MB

    It says 56% of 100gb used.

    I just deleted a bunch of old Updraft backups I no longer need and now it says 51.8gb of 100gb used. So basically I have less than 50gb left. Is that the problem? The backups can’t be that big!

    Hi Tina,

    The log indicates that the backup takes longer than expected because of few visitors to the website. WordPress’s scheduling engine relies upon visitors:

    Yeah only it’s not true. That site and another one I have are my 2 highest traffic sites. And the other ones I have are really low or not public yet. And the 2 with actual decent traffic are the ones getting this message, while the ones that get nearly none or aren’t actually even public yet (blocked from search engines) don’t get this message.

    The other site that is my highest traffic site has been around since 2001 and gets really good traffic and it’s still getting this message! And it never used to before. This is something just in the last few months or so that have been an issue. I’ve had updraft for years.

    Both of these sites aren’t like super heavy traffic, but not super light either. What is “not enough traffic”?? And how come my other sites that get CONSIDERABLY less aren’t getting this message?

    Hi,

    Log shows “2067.862 (1) [Warning] Your website is visited infrequently and UpdraftPlus is not getting the resources it hoped for; please read this page: https://updraftplus.com/faqs/why-am-i-getting-warnings-about-my-site-not-having-enough-visitors/”

    This warning message causes UpdraftPlus not able to create or complete backups. UpdraftPlus is only able to run when WordPress is loaded into memory, i.e. when the site is accessed. As such, UpdraftPlus is not able to resume the backups in good time.

    I get that I’m not a paying customer and so not a priority…therefore it’s taking forever to respond to me…ok, whatever….but can you at least read above what I have already said?? This is really frustrating!! This is NOT the issue!!! As I said above ALREADY: My site gets decent traffic. AND THIS IS NOT HAPPENING on my test site that doesn’t get ANY traffic. This is clearly a problem with Updraft.
