Backups Not Working

    Iam using the latest version of UpdraftPlus. Version 3.5 of WordPress, hosted at godaddy on linux.

    My backups have not been working for some time. Some archive files show up in the folder on the server (leading me to believe the backups were working), but nothing goes to my google drive. Also, in the settings for Updraft Plus, it shows no backups have completed. Below are the two most recent logs for review.

    Hi,

    Thanks for the report… the bad news is that UpdraftPlus is simply hitting the maximum amount of time that PHP is allowed to run in your hosting environment before it can finish creating the zip of your wp-content/uploads folder. The process is terminated by the webserver (or by some other means) before it can do that.

    There are only really two ways to fix this:
    1) A web hosting environment with more resources
    2) Some funding for UpdraftPlus to have new code to be able to resume the zip creation process. Presently it can resume from any point after that, but the zip creation is still an all-or-nothing.
    Alternatively you can wait for someone else to fund it, or for me to find some spare time, but it’s not a huge priority as it seems this problem only hits people with approaching a gigabyte of content in that zip file (unless they have resource-starved hosting).

    When I try to backup to my Dropbox it fails.

    What can cause this ? Appkey etc. is all OK and the folder exist on my dropbox and I can manual upload files to that folder.

    Hi rfalken,

    Thanks for the report. In future, please post new items in new forum threads, to avoid confusion.

    Does the backup itself succeed? Only the deletion fails? (Check your DropBox). If so, then just ignore this error for a while and come back to me later…. it is possible that one file upload failed at some past point, and now that file fails to delete (because it’s not there), and hence the error is spurious.

    Ok i’ll create a new post in the future.

    No files are uploaded to the Dropbox folder. I have verified that the backup is created on the local disk of my website.

    rfalken, please also make sure you update to at least 1.2.24 also before sending the backup log – I’ve just fixed a possibly relevant bug in this area.

    Where are you looking when you look in DropBox? You should be looking inside the “apps” folder.

    ohh yes ?? now I can see it.

    I created my own folder where I thought it would upload to…

    Thank you! DropBox gives app developers (like me) two options: access to your entire DropBox, or restricted access to a single folder in the ‘apps’ folder. The latter is more secure, as it means I can’t reach your other files even if I want to.

    Hi there. I can’t figure out how the heck to start a new thread, but I’m having the same types of issues as rfalken. Mine was giving me something that said something about a Dropbox Object Exception…

    Long story short, I’m trying to add a NEW Dropbox app in the settings but it says “You appear to be already authenticated”. How can I reset this a re-authenticate?
