    Hi there,

    as long as I backed up my site without premium extensions everything was fine. Now I always get these messages:

    10:45:25: Backup status email sent to
    10:45:25: A fatal error occured: Failed to close zip archive, please check your permissions
    10:45:24: Creating zip archive.
    10:45:08: Your time limit is 900 seconds and your memory limit is 268435456
    10:45:08: Backup started on Monday May 20, 2013.

    I′ve updated to PHP 5.3 and in section wp/tools/serverbuddy everything is OK.

    PHP Version >= 5.2 5.3.22 OK

    PHP max_execution_time >= 30 (seconds) 900 OK

    WordPress Version >= 2.9.0 3.5.1 OK

    MySQL Version >= 5.0.15 5.0.96 OK

    Zip Methods exec (best) > ziparchive > pclzip (worst) exec, ziparchive, pclzip OK

    AddHandler in .htaccess host dependant n/a OK

    PHP Register Globals disabled disabled OK

    PHP Magic Quotes GPC disabled disabled OK

    PHP Magic Quotes Runtime disabled disabled OK

    PHP Safe Mode disabled disabled OK

    Operating System Linux SunOS OK

    PHP Memory Limit >= 128M 256M OK

    All permissions seem to be OK according to serverbuddy:

    Relative Path Suggestion Value Result Status
    / <= 755 0755 OK

    /wp-includes/ <= 755 0755 OK

    /wp-admin/ <= 755 0755 OK

    /wp-admin/js/ <= 755 0755 OK

    /wp-content/themes/ <= 755 0755 OK

    /wp-content/plugins/ <= 755 0755 OK

    /wp-content/ <= 755 0755 OK

    /wp-content/uploads/ <= 755 0755 OK

    /wp-includes/ <= 755 0755 OK

    I′ve tried every possible combination in the preferences of wpb2d, but backup fails every time (sometimes with other messages). Even if I uncheck “zip-compression” the backup fails.
    I′ve worked with backupbuddy for a long time, but one day backups failed and I couldn′t fix it. So I changed to wpb2d because it worked fine. Now I have the same problem as with backupbuddy.I don′t know what to do. Please help!

    kindly
    Achim

    Gday Achim,

    Premium extensions are optional because they may not work for everyone. This is also the reason there is a money back guarantee.

    It appears that your server can’t handle zip archives very well so it’s probably best you go back to to the non zip version.

    Cheers,
    Mikey

    Dear Michael,

    only with the zipped file-storage it′s posssible to store multiple backups. This was the main reason for me to upgrade to premium. I′d rather fix the problem as to get my money back.
    As seen above the serverbuddy test

    Zip Methods exec (best) > ziparchive > pclzip (worst) exec, ziparchive, pclzip OK

    shows, that zip archives shouldn′t be a problem with the server settings. Don′t you have any idea what could be the problem?

    Gday Achim,

    I was just letting you know that sometimes it’s not possible to get zip working on server configurations but I will do my best to help you out.

    It’s probably a permissions error as mentioned in some of the comments here: https://php.net/manual/en/ziparchive.close.php

    The best way for me to diagnose the issue is take a look at the plugin on your server. If this is ok with you please send login details to [email protected]

    Cheers,
    Mikey

    Hi Michael,

    after complete reinstallation of wpb2d there′s an other message. Backup starts and quite quickly reaches 99%. At 99% backup stays for hours without finish.
    I′ve installed the newest version with premium features. Zip-compression is switched on.
    Could it be the same failure, that the archive can′t be closed?

    kindly
    Achim

    P.S.: I′ve created a FTP-account for you that directly leads you to the plugin-directory. The login I send to the email-adress given above.

    Thanks mate,

    The I reckon I have narrowed down the zip close issue that is affecting users. It would be good to see if they work on your set up.

    Cheers,

    Hi Michael,

    unfortunately backup still stucks at 99% without finish. In the directory wp-content/backups/ there are a few files, each between 30 and 31.5 MB. The site is about 60 MB. It could be, that backup is finished, but runs in a circle and creates new files. Because the longer the backup runs the more files are created. Hope that helps.

    Gday Mate,

    I have found the issue and have pushed out a fix.

    If you delete and re-install the plugin you should get it.

    Cheers,
    Mikey
