    Hello,

We have a problem with the website noted above.

The plugin is creating a BackUp but when it tries to upload it to Google Drive it just stops on file 3 of 5 (46%). We tried multiple times and the bug is on the same percentage of the upload.

Please note that we are not getting an error and the next resumption timer is -22222 sec – https://prnt.sc/10ajkcs

Please find the log attached here – https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/14ZP_cgFjYjtH8l3f8Q7CDBrEZVfvRIun?usp=sharing

The platform is using WordPress 4.7.8 and we are trying to back it up before updating everything.

    What can be the problem?

    Hi,

Your backup appears to be timing out.

Could you try to reduce the backup archive split size. This will split the backup into smaller, more manageable files. To do this, open the ‘expert settings’ section of the UpdraftPlus Settings tab, and find the ‘split backups every’ option. Set this to 25Mb, save your settings and run a new process.

    Kind Regards,
    Bryle

    Hello Bryle,

Unfortunatelly we have the same problem when we reduce the files size.

You can find a screenshot and a log file here – https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/14ZP_cgFjYjtH8l3f8Q7CDBrEZVfvRIun?usp=sharing

    Hi,

    Thank you!

I can see that the backup gets killed off while backing up the uploads component. This is a common issue for servers that have low resource server capacity. The best way to resolve the issue is to ask your host/server admin to increase your server resources such as I/O limit, maximum_execution_timeout and site memory.

    Best Wishes,
    Bryle

Hi, I’m having the same problem where I’m backing up my site with Updraft Plus to Google Drive and the uploading never ends.
I went into expert settings and changed the ‘Split Backups Every’ to 25MB as you advised.
Then I asked my Host about the server resources and they couldn’t help… All I know is what I have now is:

    I/O (KB/sec) = 1000
    Memory/RAM (MB) = 512
    Files (inodes) = 250,000
    Disk space = 30GB

Does this mean anything?? I have no idea…

    Hi,

Please could you send us a copy of the full backup log?
This can be found in the UpdraftPlus Existing Backups tab.
The contents will be too long to post here directly, but you can use an online service such as Dropbox or Pastebin, and post the link here.

    Regards,
    Bryle

@bcrodua Is it safe to paste the link to my while back up here on this forum? I only have one from Dec 2020, as it hasn’t been able to do a full back up since.

    Hi @beingnaomi

    Apologies for the late reply.

It is safe to post backup logs here.
Also, can you try to update the plugin to latest version and see if you still continue to get the same issue?

    Thanks,
    Bryle

    Hi @bcrodua

I have the Updraft Plus Version 1.16.53 and am trying a fresh back up now but it still seems to be permanently stuck around the quarter mark of the loading bar. I’ll give it more time though.

In the mean time, here is the back up log from Dec 2020 Dec 2020 Log

    Thanks!

    Hi,

Apologies again for the late reply.

The file that you shared it is the themes backup file. Can you share the backup log? can be download in the “Backup/Restore” tab.

    Thanks,
    Bryle

Hi, sorry, I thought it was the correct file. Could you try this one please?:

    Hi,

Please can you ask your host to increase the maximum_execution_timeout?
I would suggest 300s or higher.

    Thanks,
    Bryle

I reached out to my host and they won’t help me at all…
I tried to access the maximum_execution_timeout in PHP settings but cannot find the file!!(non-pro here)

I don’t want to keep bothering you with so much detail so I think I will leave this for now.
Thank you so much for your help!

    Hi,

The problem is with the scheduled task engine (“WP Cron”) in your WordPress install. This is evident from the message in the screenshot https://prnt.sc/10ajkcs, and the fact that resumptions of the backup aren’t occurring. The thing to do is to read the guide that is linked with the words “Read this guide…” in that screenshot, i.e. https://updraftplus.com/faqs/scheduler-wordpress-installation-working/

    David
