Backup to dropbox Error

Similar problem, worked with my webhost who duplicated issue. Told me to send the logfile here:

Seeing same error – but curiously the backup file is showing up in the dropbox folder just fine. Error message shows up during both scheduled and manual job executions. Pertinent error code is:

ERROR: Dropbox API: (55) SSL_write() returned SYSCALL, errno = 32

lydiamann & mhentges, What size is your backup file? I think I found a workaround for backing up the entire website by splitting up the backup in sections. A complete backup would be preferred but for now this works.

I was able to do a manual backup to a local folder, so it doesn’t seem to have trouble producing or copying the file, just moving it to Dropbox.

Mine works now after so many days.

Not sure if you guys use a caching plugin to speed up your website but all I did was delete/clear the cache and it worked both manually and by scheduling the backup to Dropbox. No errors.

Hopefully the same works for you all.

yippee! Thanks for the heads up – I had shifted to a new backup to a local drive, but am happy I can return to the Dropbox version. For what it’s worth, I didn’t have to clear cache or any other thing, it just started working for me.

I have the same problem. Since mid-december, for a same backup size (380 MB) as previous successful backups, BackWPup fails to upload to Dropbox. Local backups and uploads to remote FTP servers still happen fine.

Now that I cleared the cache, I have, on top of Dropbox failing, the WARNING: mysqli_ping(): MySQL server has gone away errors.
