Hi, would it be possible to add a feature to allow us to backup all of the question bank and settings, ideally in the same format as the import?

The reason for me is to have a way to easily read, review and edit ALL existing questions in a list or Excel document. this will allow me to look for similar questions or holes in the question bank as well as giving us a way of backing the questions up outside of a full site backup.

    Hi Adrian,
having a dedicated CSV export is something I’d need to think about as there is a lot of data that would need to be included, and things can get messy real fast when you consider that a lot of the fields can contain HTML or even shortcodes.

In the meantime, here is some extra info that you might find useful and can hopefully ease the burden of reviewing your content.

    # Exporting Question

HD Quiz is fully compatible with WordPress’ native import/export tool. The only data that is not included in the export are the settings on the About / Options page.

WordPress exports to XML, so not exactly the most “human-readable” format, but you can at least use it to make backups of your quizzes without needing to back up an entire site.

    # Reviewing large list of questions

A cool “trick” that you may find very useful is to use the Bulk Modify Questions page. This page is mainly there to allow users to quickly bulk add existing questions to a new quiz, but in your case, you could use this to see all of your questions in a nice table.

From the main HD Quiz page, select the Bulk Modify Questions button. You will now see the table with all questions, and which quiz the question belongs to. You can also select the quiz name to see only questions belonging to that quiz.

By default, WordPress only shows 20 items at a time, but we can override this. On the very top right of the screen is a little “tab” called Screen Options. Selecting this will show extra settings where you can increase Number of items per page to whatever number you want. Generally speaking, I wouldn’t go over 200 though.

Your question doesn’t mention needing to review answers, just “look for similar questions or holes in the question bank” – so I hope this solution works for you!

If you need to also be able to review all answers like this, then I’m afraid the only solution I can offer at this point in time is to perhaps create a new quiz, and use the Bulk Modify Questions page to add All questions to this new quiz. Then add the new quiz to a page and bam; you can now use the quiz itself to see all of your questions and answers.
