    Hi

I’ve got your plugin free version on my production site where it backs it up regularly.

I have recently created a staging site on another plugin on which I am completely redeveloping my website (different theme etc).

    1. When I run a backup by your plugin, does it automatically include my staging site (which is on the same server)?

    2. Can I create a separate, stand alone, full backup of my staging site with your plugin?

    3. Will I be able to use it to restore my production site which will overwrite the current site with the new one?

    thanks

    > No, you will have to install UpdraftPlus on each site.

    2. Can I create a separate, stand alone, full backup of my staging site with your plugin?
    > Yes, as stated in #1.

    3. Will I be able to use it to restore my production site which will overwrite the current site with the new one?
    > You can restore using the free version if it is on the same site/URL. If you are moving staging to production/live then you will have to use the migrator or premium version of UpdraftPlus.

    hi @bcrodua

    thanks for your prompt reply.

When I created my staging site, it cloned everything including all my plugins on the Production site – which includes UpdraftPlus.

When I look at UpfraftPlus on my staging site now – it shows the same data and backups etc as on my production site. Everything is the same.

So – if I run a backup with it on my staging site – which is on the same server just has a slightly different URL (to differentiate from the production site of course), will it create this backup of my STAGING site? How will the plugin know that it needs to backup different databases and files?,

It was cloned from my production site, not installed afresh.

    Could you please clarify.

what’s the difference between migrator and the premium version of your plugin?

    thanks

    > UpdraftPlus is installed on each website and backups are stored separately. This way UpdraftPlus will only backup the site that it is installed to.

    > Migrator is used if you only want to move the site to a different URL/location. Premium includes migrator and all other add-ons we have.
