Backup my wordpress

  • This question is from a friend, her web page https://www.scraptime.net was brought and hosted by a friend of her’s, her friend gave her the login details for the wordpress back end where she went and created the site, however the site has gone down and she can’t get in touch with her friend. I told her if she could get it contact with the hosting or domain name company i could help but they need verification from her friend to get access, is there anything she can do besides buying a new domain and re setting up her web page? Thank you.

  • A) You need to prove ownership of the domain.
    B) If asked to revise a site from a friend of a friend of a friend…think about that…would you take a set of keys and enter a home you know nothing about under the same circumstances? Who would be the one involved? The point is if you are not offered clear credentials, do not open the door..

    So is she not able to login?

    She must of gone over her hosting limit or something as the site https://www.scraptime.net is done so she can’t log into the wp backend and she has no idea about the hosting or domain name login details as her friend never gave her anything and that friend has vanished. I tracked down the company she used- blue host however they wouldn’t give her access as she doesn’t know any personal details of the lady that set it up.

    Thanks Seacoast Web Design, i know what you are saying, i have informed my friend and said of this. Just confirming, what it says on the site – is there any way of fixing this without logging into the hosting?

    You might be stuck if you can’t get the info from the old developer. No way to get access to the database and files.
