Backup keeps failing

I saw this issue in the forum unanswered, and I have the same issues. I am a new member assigned to support the web site. The site have a few issues. 1. It hasn’t been updated for sometime (WP, Plugin, Themes). I was able to update the plugin but with WP, I will need to perform a backup of the db and files. I noticed the log show the automatic scheduled online backup has been failing for years. I want to update Elementor but it says it keeps failing as well. I have never managed a website before so I am doing the best I can but am currently at a standstill. 

Error:

A transmission operation failed.

I disconnect the online backup as an attempt to restart but unable to login to the online backup.

 2. I attempt to perform a manual local backup but it kept failing.
