• Using WP411 and BackWpUp 3.1.4

If I create a job with db backup only, everything works normally and I get the backup in my destination folder or via email. IF I include files or do files only, then it will fail.

I have tried several different suggestions made in other support posts but noting has worked. PHP max execution time is unlimited, so I know that is not it. The site is brand new, so there is virtually no content in it, total backup size for just the filesystem (no DB) should be under 50MB. Nonetheles, I tried pruning the backup by excluding virtually everything as a test. I have it limited to backup of one small directory and still the job almost never completes (even after an hour). Occasionally, I get lucky and it completes with the same warning others have mentioned, that is:

“WARNING: Job restarts due to inactivity for more than 5 minutes”

usually, it will just sit there with no updates until I choose to abort.

I can run a zip or tar.gz of the entire site from the SSH command line in under 1 minute, so what am I doing wrong? I have deleted and recreated this job several times and even deleted and reinstalled the backwpup plugin to no avail.

I have used this plugin successfully in the past on other WP sites, but this is my first attempt at using on a WP4.1 site, is there a known issue with WP4.1?

  • Please try to setup max Execution time in BackWPup > Setting > Tab: jobs. Set it to 30 secounds.

BAckWPup don’t uses a system command for backup, just php. Zhat is why it can’t work so fast as a zip on commandline.
