My scheduled database backups are still being sent as indicated by settings but after Monday, they don’t have the ‘.sql’ file attached. Since I noticed the email didn’t have the attached DB file, I tried manually clicking the “Create a Database Backup” from iThemes Security Dashboard settings, but still receive a blank email (without a db file attached).

This also happens on another site and also started after the same timeframe (After the previous version update(s) (same version for each site))

    System details:
    iThemes Security Version 5.8.0
    Affected sites: https://eyemagicgraphics.com AND https://shop.robertscalesministries.org

Apologies if I’ve left out anything pertinent here

    Add’l server environment details:

    Web Server Info: Apache
    PHP Version: 7.0.12
    MySQL Version: 5.5.51
    WP Memory Limit: 256 MB
    WP Debug Mode: No

The same problem on all of my sites. Switching to “store locally” works.

I am having this issue too. It is inconsistent. Some sites, backup is attached to email fine; others, the zip file is missing.

It seems correlated to html formatting of the email. The emails that are plain text – the backup file are attached fine.

The emails that are html formatted have no file attached.

I have no idea why iThemes Security send me some email notifications in plain text and others in html format. I have not seen a setting for this. For me, I prefer plain text email.

I hope this bug can be fixed soon. I have been a fan of iThemes Security and the ability to automatically receive scheduled zipped db backup via email is one of the main reasons why.

    me too
    there is no attachment ??

Do any of you guys who’ve experience this same issue have any similarity to the server environments I detailed in my post above?

Same here. I use the backup function on two different sites, same server.

One Site sends me the attached database files in ZIP format in an HTML email,
the second site does send the HTML email, but no attachment.

Second site has no other plugins installed, fresh WP 4.6.1
    Local backup works.

Same here. I don’t want a backup on my server, because of the space.
So, i don’t get an .zip file by the mail.

So, where are the boys from this plugin?
What must we do? Are what can you do for us?

This is probably a bug introduced in the 4.8.0 release which needs
to be fixed in the next release. Even though not mentioned in the 4.8.0 Changelog
there were certainly some changes made to the send Database Backup email code …
For anyone interested in these changes, check this out.

Additionally, according to the FAQ section in the readme.txt:

= Where can I get help if something goes wrong? =
    * Official support for this plugin is available for iThemes Security Pro customers. Our team of experts is ready to help.

Free support may be available with the help of the community in the www.remarpro.com support forums (Note: this is community-provided support. iThemes does not monitor the www.remarpro.com support forums).

Special attention for the bold piece of text in the quote above …

The Pro-users will definitely have the same problems because the bug was introduced with the last update. So hopefully we will see the next bug-free update soon.

@pronl The link in the quote www.remarpro.com support forums does not work.

    @zielniok

Thank you for pointing that out.
It was just a copy/paste from the readme.txt.
Apparently the link is incorrect in the readme.txt …
More work for iThemes … ??

Today iThemes released a 5.8.1 plugin update which fixes the email attachment issue (and nothing else).

Sadly, the update did not work for me. ??

This update, along with WP 4.7, successfully resolved my backups. I tested it immediately, and received the newer HTML email WITH the attached db (.sql) file.

I’ll continue to monitor this and leave the issue up for a while.

Email-Backup with WP 4.7 and iThemes Scecurity 5.8.1 works fine. Thank you very much for this plugin,
