Backup Guard
-
Pros: Easy download and upload of backup, easy backup restore, plugin easiness, very responsive support team, Unlimited Backup
Backup guard was suggested by a friend to me. To be honest, I did not know much about it and hesitated to download the plugin at first. But due to the effective convincing powers of my friend (He just downloaded it as well and had the plugin incorporated in his site for about a week already), I was enticed to click the download button and did it….. One thing I am amazed about it is the plugin easiness during the installation, everything was smoothly running, it did not give me a headache unlike other plugins I have tried before. After 2 days of having it in my site, I finally decided to try it and created a backup for my database. I realized that I was very lucky to have made the decision to try it because of what happened in the following week.
On December 11th, I sat in front of my computer in order to check on my WordPress account (I am using a version 4.3.1). It was around 1:30 pm, and I had hoped I’d be able to quickly write something about the experience I had the other day when I visited a resort together with my family ( I write blogs about the places I visit). I had an appointment that day which was scheduled by 5 pm in the afternoon, so while waiting for the time, I decided to do something productive. Upon opening WordPress, something unexpected came up, the screen popped up with a page that displays “error 145”. I had no idea what it meant, but when I did some research, I learned that error 145 occurs because of a damaged or corrupted database. I was worried and immediately checked for possible solutions. Luckily I found out one, which gave me a suggestion to login to phpMyadmin and choose my WP database in order to repair what have been damaged. I understand that causing changes in the database is not recommended, especially if you have not created a backup for it. The first thing that came into my mind after that was the backup I created using backup guard. I immediately downloaded the created backup and also uploaded it in my google drive just to be safe. Good thing I was able to do the download and upload process very smoothly and fast as well. Since it was my first time to actually manage my backup using this plugin, I had to send a message to the support team to clarify some things, it turned out that the support is awesome and was beyond my expectation, they were really reliable. So to sum it all up, I was able to cure my WordPress successfully, and restored the backup I have downloaded as well. Overall my experience with the backup guard was positive, everything went smoothly, kudos to the plugin easiness, easy download/upload and restoration of backup, plus the very good support team responsiveness. If you are looking for a backup choice for WordPress blogs or websites and you’ll ask me about this plugin, I can say that I do not have any complaint about it. In fact, it is highly recommended. If anyone has a question about the backup guard though, leave a comment to my review and I’ll get back to you.
