• I downloaded a copy of my blog to my computer, and now I’d like to access the posts that I’ve written, because I want to repost them on a different website.

I don’t know where to find them, and wondered if someone could help?

    Thanks,

    Valerie

  • Posts are stored in your database. Back up a copy https://www.tamba2.org.uk/wordpress/backup/
    Posts will be in wp_posts

I don’t find this answer clear. I am having a similar problem locating the actual files that I have created with my posts. Where is this database? Where does it reside? What is it’s name? Why does such an important part of the whole process seem like it is hidden?

    Thank you
    Steve

It is not hidden. It is housed in the database server of your web host! That is the way any database-driven blogging system works.

You can access to it in either way:

    1. Using phpMyAdmin as described in the link given by mercime
    2. Through the Control panel of your site with the web host

    Hope it is clear.

Export your WordPress posts and pages so you can upload them into a new/different blog and/or site.

Your web host may already have phpmyadmin installed; ask them, and they may have instructions, too. If not…
