• Hi everybody,

I hope somebody can give me an eye-opener on this strange issue:

I have 2 webservers, one is for the LIVE-Website and onother one is a 1:1 clone which I use for testing before I implement it on the LIVE-website.

Now I made backup with WP Clone on my LIVE-website which was 815Mb in size, then I did a backup with WP Clone on my test-webite which I had just cloned some minutes ago through the “restore by url” function.
Now this backup file size is 1,37 GB in size, that is nearly 600 Mb more than my original LIVE-website, but since I cloned it I would have expected that the backup files should have the same size.
So why is the cloned website, my test-site so much bigger?

    Thank you for your help!

    add:
in WP Clone SYSTEM INFO, it shows that there are 80 files more to backup on the test-website then on the LIVE-website … so why and where do I have 80 files more … I just cloned my website…should be 1:1 the same in files …. or not?

    add:
so are this 80 files useless and can I delete them? (once I know which files)

it could be some left over files from the restore. if that’s the case they will be inside a directory named wpclone-temp inside your wp-content directory. the easiest way to delete them is to do a restore with a fake url, it’ll delete the directory before showing the restore failed error message.

I tried to do a restore with a fake url according to your proposal for several times, afterwards I always performed a backup but the size was still always 1,37 Gb, so nothing got deletet. In the moment I do not have any directory access via FTP or similar so I can not look directly into that folder, I am trying to get that FTP access asap from our IT-Guy, then I can check that wpclone-temp directory for real, but so far I still have the same problem.

Some time passed by now, meanwhile I had FTP-access and I had a look into the files directory named wpclone-temp inside my wp-content directory but there are no such files like leftover files from the restore. Any other clue?
