After plug-in update on 20 Dec 2018 Updraft backups fail with this error message:
“Thu, December 20, 2018 21:43 Waiting until scheduled time to retry because of errors next resumption: 2 (after 184s)”
The backup appears in the list of backups with “(Not finished)” underneath.

On the Settings page I get this message:
“Warning: Your web server’s PHP installation has these functions disabled: ftp_connect, ftp_login, ftp_nb_fput. Your hosting company must enable these functions before regular non-encrypted FTP can work.”
I got in touch with my hosting company and I got this response:
“We’ve made corrective changes for your backup plugin to work, please check or get back to us, if you need any further assistance.”
But this did not solve the problem.

Testing FTP settings gives this error:
“FTP settings test result: Failure: we did not successfully log in with those credentials. Messages: *PHP event: code E_WARNING: ftp connect() has been disabled for security reasons (line 44, wp-content/plugins/updraftplus/includes/ftp.class.php)”

    Here’s the email report:
    “UpdraftPlus WordPress backup is complete.
Backup contains: Files and database (Full backup)
Latest status: The backup has not finished; a resumption is scheduled”

The log file seems to suggest that this update is a beta and that you’re tracking errors so I hope there’s another update soon.

    Hi,

ftp connect() has been disabled for security reasons

This message is telling you attempts to call the ftp_connect function fail, logging an error that the function has been disabled by your web hosting company. If they’ve told you that they attempted to enable it, then this would indicate that their attempt was not successful.

    David
