Backup Download to PC not working

HI there,
When I try to download the server backups to my PC, I get sent to a url which contains thousands of question marks in diamond shaped shapes…plus all kinds of other weird looking text.
I have never had this [problem before with Updraft, although I normally backup to Drop Box.
This is a new site for a client

I am also using A2Hosting for the first time.
Do you have any suggestions?
