    Here’s an odd one….

Attempts to download a backup that was saved to “Local” via Chrome consistently fails with the error: “Check Internet Connection” (as noted by Chrome in the download window). There is nothing wrong with my internet connection. This occurs on many sites.

Downloading the archive from Firefox works perfectly. I cleared the Chrome cache with no success.

    Any ideas?

    Hi,

That is definitely strange! Since the download works fine in Firefox, it doesn’t seem to be an issue with BackWPUp itself. Sometimes, browser settings or extensions can interfere with downloads.

A few things you can try in Chrome:

    • Disable any extensions that might be blocking downloads.
    • Try using Incognito Mode to see if the issue persists.
    • Clear browser cache and cookies (though I see you already tried this).

If the issue continues, you can also access your backup file directly via FTP or cPanel:

    1. Navigate to your backup storage directory inside your WordPress installation.
    2. Locate the backup file and try downloading it from there.

Let us know if you need any further help!

Thanks for getting back to me and offering those suggestions. I’ll give those a try. Another oddity is that under same conditions (same browser, website, etc), downloading backups from UpDraft Plus works flawlessly.
