Backslashes next to apostrophes and quotation marks.

  • Hi all.
    Have installed WP 1.5.2 on another site of mine and am coming across a problem that didn’t happen on my first WP-based site. My apostrophes and quotation marks are showing up with backslashes in front of them once I publish a page or post.

    Examples: It’s becomes It\’s

    A link goes from this: a href= “https://example.com”
    to \”https://example.com\” …and doesn’t lead to the intended destination as a result.

    I did a search and pulled up this post but didn’t find a resolution posted. Can someone help please?

  • all of a sudden, without any changes, I am getting this too…

    editing the comment/post does not help neither…

    yup!!

    i went to that site, but it didn’t say anything about fixing the backslash problem…just those annoying “are you sure” things…

    OK… Now it is ok when I actually go into the database itself and change it and it works fine…

    I also get this message… I’m not sure what it means exactly, but I think it is telling me that if I want to put in quote marks I’ll have to place a backslash in front of it? now that is real annoying. I don’t understand why all of a sudden it is doing this today…no changes were made whatsoever…it just happened on a new comment i just recieved a lil bit ago…

    1 If field type is “enum” or “set”, please enter the values using this format: ‘a’,’b’,’c’…
    If you ever need to put a backslash (“\”) or a single quote (“‘”) amongst those values, preceed it with a backslash (for example ‘\\xyz’ or ‘a\’b’).

    I had this issue on a different site, but it went away completely when I switched the site to a Linux server instead of Windows.
