I had converted my drupal 5 blog to wordpress 2.0.4 and then proceeded to upgrade it to the most recent 2.8.4. I thought everything’s alright, until I tried editing the few existing posts i have. It turns ” into \” and ‘ into \’. I had asked my host about the magic quotes, and I’ve even set the magic quotes to off in both php.ini and .htaccess but it still doesn’t work. Can anyone help, please?

    I fixed it.
I made a directory called “_custom_php_settings” and placed it under “wp-admin”. I put in the php.ini file with the code “magic_quotes_gpc = Off” and it worked!

It didn’t work right off the bat when I put php.ini file straight onto the wp-admin or wordpress main directory, so I hope this is a solution for those who tried php.ini, htaccess without any success.

I’m a complete noob with the same problem.

Can you give moron proof instructions on what you did here?

    Thanks!
