    Hello,

I am facing an issue with backorders when this plugin is activated.

I created a variable product and the issue is that when there is stock for a particular variation, with backorders allowed, I cannot order more that the stock. For example if stock is 1 for size XS, I cannot order more than 1 piece even with backorders allowed. However, if the stock is set to 0, then I can order as many as I want.

Also note that I see the message “In stock (can be backordered)” but I can’t actually backorder.

The website is actually under construction, reason why no link.

    Thank you
    Patrick

The plugin does support backorders, but only after the actual stock is completely sold out. So it might not work with your use case.

Thank you for getting back to me and your time.

Yes if I set the stock to 0, then it is working.
Is there any way or plan on “fixing” this? Meaning that clients can for example buy 2 pieces when there is only 1 in stock. Making it 1 from the stock and 1 on backorder?

    Thank you

I’ll happily accept a code contribution to make it work but it’s very far down my todo list and I have minimal time.

If you are accepting backorders, do you even need this plugin?

Sorry but I am not familiar (sure) of what you mean by code contribution. Also how far down the list is it? ??

I will accept backorders partially on my website and I am also using your plugin for the cart timer and automatically removing items from it. Can I use only this part without the stock reducer?

    Thank you again

If you have the ability to develop the feature in code and can contribute it, I would be willing to include it. The todo list is long and I volunteer for a number of other things so I don’t have a lot of free time.

Unfortunately, right now the reducing stock functionality is the main part of the plugin and the countdown doesn’t work without it. Though there have been requests to separate the functionality apart so you can have countdowns and item/cart expiration without the stock features. It’s more likely that will be implemented before additional backorder functionality is added.

I wish I could develop the code and contribue but unfortunately I don’t have such skills. Sure I understand you must have lots to do and having this plugin available for free is already amazing and thank you for that.

Would the ‘wc_csr_min_no_check’ filter be an option to bypass the issue?

    Thanks again for your time

I’ve never tested using that filter in that way, but I’m always a fan of pushing things to there limits. Just make sure you test out possible conditions.

I don’t think that would be the solution as it will involve manual work.

As a last attempt, would you consider a payment to fix the backorders issue now rather than when it makes it up the list :)?

    Thanks

I don’t currently have the time to work on the issue. When I implemented the backorder support there is now I saw that it would basically require a complete rewrite of the plugin to handle all of the potential issues.

Okay, I understand. Will try to find a solution to keep using this great plugin. Hopefully one day backorders will also be part of it.

Thank you again for your time and keep up the great work
    Best regards,
    Pat
