    Hi there,

I had Total Upkeep on a schedule for Sunday and Thursday at 3am. Yesterday (Tuesday) it backed up about 7am and again about 11am. When I went to my dashboard, Woocommerce was gone! I restored the site from the regular Sunday back-up and got Woocommerce back, but 5 orders from Sunday are missing. I also had to re-input a product I added on Sunday.

So I took Total Upkeep off its schedule, and according to another recent thread about this topic, I disabled auto-update. It backed up on its own again last night a few times, so I deactivated it this morning. I can’t afford to not have the shopping cart show up, especially in my busy season.

Why did this happen, and can I get those orders back? I don’t want to restore the site from the backup that lost Woocommerce. I have the orders printed out, so they’re not completely lost, but they’re not listed with the others. Also, how can this be prevented? I also use Updraft Plus, and I’ll stick with that for now, but I’d like to have two backups.

    Thanks.

    Hi @nanfischer

Thanks for reaching out, I’m extremely sorry to hear about the trouble! I know missing even one order is a big deal.

First thing, Total Upkeep shouldn’t ever deactivate or disable one of your plugins, like you described happening to WooCommerce. The only way Total Upkeep would be able to do that would be if a backup without WooCommerce were restored. Check your restoration logs in Total Upkeep > Tools > Logs to see if any restorations were performed other than the one you did to recover your site.

If that’s not the case, it’s tough to speculate how else that might have happened, but one thing I can recommend for the future is a plugin like Activity Log which would keep track of when and how a plugin got deactivated or deleted.

To recover your orders, I might recommend transferring one of your backups that happened after Sunday that contains the orders to a staging site, such as our Cloud WordPress platform, or a local staging site such as Local WP. Even if those backups are missing WooCommerce, the order information should still be in your database, so you can install WooCommerce again on that and you should be able to see your orders from Sunday. Here are instructions for transferring your site to a staging environment with Total Upkeep.

Once you have access to them on a staging site, you can use a plugin like Order Export / Import to get them back into your live site.

Finally, to investigate the cause of all the extra backups, locate one of the unscheduled backups, click on View Details, and look for the More Info link on the right side. Here’s a video demonstrating how to find the cause of a backup, at about the 60-second mark is where Brad will show you:

Thanks for the info, Jesse. I’m a little confused. Can I send you a screenshot of the log files? I’m not sure what to look for.
