The situation is that a soon-to-expire site where the owner passed away needs to be backed up, no-one currently takes care of the site.

Getting data through the REST-API is the only way to access the content (except from viewing it the normal way). All users and extra admins (possibly even the only admin) have been deleted.

Does Duplicator support this kind of cloning, or is there any other plugin (or script) I can run on a destination host to rebuild the wordpress database with the content of that site ?

I will not reveal which site it is, because there might be a bandwidth quota or other unknown limits there, so it might get shut down because of too much use.

    Hello @peoy ,

Thanks for reaching out to us.

Currently, Duplicator doesn’t offer an option to backup a website through Rest API, the only way to backup a website is to install Duplicator on this website, login to its admin dashboard, and create a backup from Duplicator > Backups.

I agree with you that this option is super helpful but for now, Duplicator Pro can only backup a website where it’s installed.

I hope this helps. Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions. We are happy to help.

    Thanks!

    Hi @mohammedeisa ,

We haven’t heard back from you in a few days, so I’m going to go ahead and close this thread for now. But if you’d like us to assist further, please feel welcome to continue the conversation.

    Thanks!
