Background video pre load image and fade

I’ve put a short youtube video as background video of a section. And i’ve set an image as well for mobile and tablet.

However it loads a bit dissatisfying on desktop when the video is played:

At page load, first you see the image for a second. Then it fades black. Then suddenly the video plays. It just doesn’t look smooth / good.
IMO the fade of the black should be at video start, and the image for mobile and tablet shouldn’t be seen.

If i had any control, i would first load the black screen, then fade into the video.

Can this be done?
