Background Video doesn’t display on mobile

    Hello,

    I have recently installed Highlight theme on my wp yoga website, mainly because I’d like to have a background video.
    The video though seems to display fine on pc screen, but is not visible on mobile devices. The background is solid black.

    I have tried both uploading a video (current setting) and linking YouTube, same result.

  • Hello,

    The video only works on the desktop, while on mobile is disabled due to the mobile browser who is not using the video background and we have no control over it.

    The mobile browsers do not automatically play any video to prevent users from consuming data involuntarily and being charged a lot of money (for example if the user is in a roaming area).

    ?You can set a video poster that will show up when you are browsing your website on mobile.

    ?You can do that by going to Customizer -> Hero -> Front Page Hero -> Background Type -> Options -> Video Poster -> Change file.

    Oh, I see.
    So you’re basically saying that whatever theme or coding I’ll use will never display a video background on mobile… right?

    sorry, unrelated topic: since yesterday, every time I open customise, highlight prompts to download 1.6.81 version, which is not available in the download list though (I seem to have 1.6.110 now)

    The ticket was forwarded to the theme support system and it was marked as resolved.

    I’m having the same issue with the Highlight theme that video background does not play on mobile, and it is not true that this is not possible. Please look into how to fix this in this theme as it is possible for at least a year now to have video background on mobile.
