    Hi,

when I click in yoat seo posts overview “fetch current status” i get the pop up message saying background request blocked……

Now, I have no idea what link is that and how to check it. Any help? And I don’t know if this occurred as a result of an intentional action or not.

    How can I check this?

  • Hi @passionspoon,

The Wordfence Firewall can block background requests that use AJAX, showing a message that says “Background Request Blocked”. This can prevent certain types of attacks, but some plugins and themes may cause this message as well, even when their requests are safe. It is most likely to occur when adding custom HTML or javascript code in fields that are separate from the WordPress core.

Is the “Monitor Background Requests for False Positives” option enabled on your site?

You should be prompted to whitelist the action. Alternatively you could also temporarily switch the Firewall Status to “Learning Mode“.

Hi, I checked now and under Monitor background request for false positives I have both “front-end-website” and “admin panel” checked.

I also put my ip on the whitelist and also switch to learning mode. This was about 4 days ago. Since then, all ok.

but I have also another question. I saw in wordfence in live traffic that someone was clicking on a link “ads.txt” and got 404. Is that connected with the adds? But they are all perfectly visible and working.

    Hi @passionspoon,

    Sorry about the delayed update.

I believe the “background request” related issue is now fixed(?)

    Regarding your last question:

I saw in wordfence in live traffic that someone was clicking on a link “ads.txt” and got 404.

That is probably not someone clicking on a link to find the file, they are likely scanning for it.
It appears to be a file intended to declare authorized sellers of products; you can search online to find more information about it.

Most likely, it’s not something you need to worry about. If you’re using an advertisement plugin, please reach out to the authors of that plugin to inquire about it as they may know more than us on the topic.
