Background image not displaying aligned top

    My issue is that i have too much space at the top of the page before the image with my logo on it is displayed.

    I am using the twentytwelve theme and i have added an image as a background image (1500 x 300px) and set the background colour to match.

    Weirdly until i published my site, when i viewed in FF it displayed exactly as i wanted it. Now i have checked it in other browsers i can see this large gap at the top. I want to bring my image up to the top of the page so it looks correct.

    I am a wordpress newbie and any help would be much appreciated.
