    Hi weeziemase,

    The issue is not the excerpt or background image, the issue is your image css.

    Add this to your theme style sheet or into RP Post Nav – Setting Custom CSS:

    .rp-post-nav-thumbnail img {
    height: 75px;
    width: 75px;
    }

    Let me know if there is any issues left.

    It isn’t so much the thumbnail that is the issue but the background image
    I have applied the custom css anyway, and now I’m getting some pages that display correctly and others that are displaying with a grey default background instead of the post image as the background.
    Now the links above are the opposite way round, the 1st one is no longer displaying the background image but the 2nd one is displaying fine!

    Hi weeziemase,

    The background images is depending if you upload a featured image in a post. If you doesn’t upload, no background image to display and the default color of the background is grey.

    Can you please check if you upload to those posts that having issues with the background-images?
