My site is hosted by BlueHost, which runs under Linux and uses Apache 2.2.23, PHP 5.2.17, and MySQL 5.5.30.

I installed WordPress 3.5.1 in my site — blog.welcomelatinos.org — and I am using the default theme, which is the Twenty Twelve theme. The default pages are the Home Page and a Sample Page.

I changed the Header and nothing else. NO default Background Image shows. From the Dashboard, I previewed the Twenty Eleven theme and the default Background Image DOES show.

    What is wrong?

After the default Background Image shows, I’ll change it.

    Thank you.

    Doctor T

  • There is no default background image in either 2012 or 2011.

    Dear Esmi,

Thank you for your prompt reply.

If there are NO default Background Images, why does a default image (with my Header) show up when I preview the Twenty Eleven theme?

Your header image is completely separate from your background image. You set the former via Appearance -> Header and the latter via Appearance -> Background.

I’m not sure that you mean by ” default image (with my Header)”…

    Dear Esmi,

Again, thank you for your prompt reply.

My Header shows the words “Welcome Latinos / Blog” and, underneath, “A blog for collecting the opinions of the Latinos in the U.S.” There is no image.

I did add a custom Background Image — Appearance > Background — but it doesn’t show up in the default Home Page or in the default Sample Page, which, except for the Header, I have not changed yet. FYI, the custom Background Image does show in Appearance > Background.

    Doctor T.

    There is no image.

If you want a header image, you will need to upload one of the correct dimensions via Appearance -> Header.

I did add a custom Background Image

Try setting it to Tile instead of No Repeat in Appearance -> Background.

    the background image is smaller than your site;

try to set it to ’tile’ or possibly try to use it as header image…

what effect are you trying to achieve?

    Dear Esmi and Alchymyth,

Thank you for your prompt replies.

In Appearances > Background, I tried Tile but NO image showed.

In Appearances > Header I was able to add a custom image, which is shown below the Header and below the Menu in both the Home Page and the Sample Page.

what effect are you trying to achieve?
