    Hello,

I am not sure if its plugin or WP core issue but I am hopeing you could help or guide me to the right direction.

I have an issue with the backend search. What’s happening is when I start typing, it starts searching as I complete 2-3 characters and show the results on that while I still typing. This is resulting unpleasant results.

Ex: If I type minecraft, it shows results for min or mine. I expect it to wait until I complete type and then start searching and show the results.

    Any idea please?

is this with the autocomplete or instantsearch? I also believe that’s part of the intended behavior with either of those, and part of the advertised speed that Algolia promotes, getting users results asap

    Hello Michael,

It is instantsearch. Actually, this happens without Algolia so I guess this is WP core thing and not sure how to get this fixed.

    To reproduce:

Go to WP Admin >> Posts >> Add New

Type and select any text, press Control k to open linking window.

Open Inspect on Chrome and toggle to Network tab to view the HTTP requests

Start typing some text to being search, you will notice the requests are made quickly to first 2-3 characters only which is resulting unpleasant results.

You won’t be able to test it as the behavior is seen on the backend (post).

    Good point.

Not sure what to suggest at this point since Instantsearch isn’t actually available, as far as I’ve ever seen, for the backend. At least not via our plugin here.

I believe powering via Algolia as a WP_Query replacement would still. I don’t believe that version would be causing the requests so quickly either.

    Hello Michael,

Issue still exist and I am not sure how to get this fixed. This is WP Core Search issue so nothing to do with your plugin. Wil close this.
