Backend Page Title and H1 tags

  • I’ve been searching for an answer and have not found a specific answer to my question.

    Is there a way to customize my own H1 tags without using the page titles from the backend? I’m currently using WordPress SEO plugin and can customize my page (browser) titles the way I want but in order to change the H1, I have to change the backend page titles. From the backend it is difficult to tell which page is which just by looking at it, especially, if I optimize the titles. So, the Contact Us page on the backend looks like “Contact XYZ Company for a Free Quote on Widgets.” Not the best example but for pages that use more key terms, you would have to look deeper to see which page it is.

    At the end of the day, I want to leave the backend page list simple but customize the H1 tags on each page but I don’t want it to pull from the page title I specify in the backend. Any recommendations?
