• I’m building a site using the Divi theme. The site is loading fine, but the entire backend, admin, password reset, etc, is only loading a blank white page. I’ve called my web host and they’re seeing the same thing (I thought it may have been a block of my IP).

Can anyone PLEASE help me figure out how to recover it. The backend has to be there, just not loading for some reason.

I’ve gone into the backend and moved every plugin file to see if one of the was causing it. No luck. When I move the Divi file into a different folder, the front end of the site goes blank instead of defaulting to the regular WP. hen I move Divi back into the themes folder, the front end comes back up, but the back end is still showing blank. There is one plugin that is making a difference when I move it, WPScope. When I move it out of the plugin file, instead of getting just a white screen on the wp-admin area, I get the following error message:
Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started at /home/now/public_html/wp-content/plugins/events-manager/widgets/em-calendar.php:1) in /home/now/public_html/wp-includes/pluggable.php on line 1196

Leaving WPScope out of the plugin folder and moving the other plugins out one by one, I get the same error message on the wp-admin “login” page, but the plugin or widget name changes depending on what’s still in the plugins file.

The site is running wp 4.2.4 and is not automatically updating for some reason. I don’t know how to update it manually to see if that is the problem.

  • Try manually resetting your plugins (no Dashboard access required). If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.

If that does not resolve the issue, access your server via SFTP or FTP, or a file manager in your hosting account’s control panel, navigate to /wp-content/themes/ and rename the directory of your currently active theme. This will force the default theme to activate and hopefully rule-out a theme-specific issue (theme functions can interfere like plugins).

Thanks, I tried both. I can’t find the active plugins under the option names, so went into the file and changed plugin to plugin/hold and manually went to the plugin area of my site, still getting a white page with the error message. I tried renaming the theme and the front end goes down (white page). When I rename the theme back to the original, the front end comes back up, but the back end doesn’t.

What did you do before this error happened?

It was working last time I was on it. I did give my admin login to the people at WPScope because it wasn’t working properly, I don’t know if they’ve been in.

My backend is completely disabled and we haven’t been able to figure out why. The front end is loading fine. When I rename the theme, the front end goes down too. The default theme isn’t loading. Is there a way to force it or what could be causing it?

Maybe you should give WPScope a ping. Maybe they did something.
