    Hi Marrie,

Sorry to hear that. That log file though is solely of a database backup – as the seventh line says, “0000.240 This backup run is not intended for files – skipping”. So there should be another log file that records what happens when the attempt is made to back up files. I’d need to see that one.

lol. I suck at reading log files. Hehaha. That’s the problem. it is not backing up the files. I hit the back up now button, trigger it and it has only backed up the data base. that’s the only email I’ve received upon completion. yet it shows the nextscheduled file date of friday even when I hit the back up now button. is there a way to just run the file back up?

    Do this:

    1. Hit ‘Backup Now’
    2. Trigger it
    3. Wait a while
    4. Click on ‘Download backups and logs’. Then click the ‘Log’ button for the most recent backup shown.

Ok. the back up appears to be stuck. I’ts been at this message for the past 10 or so hours. Zip: backup_2013-02-28-0259_Welcome_to_tffp_the_funfilled_podcast_0181e14b5433-uploads.zip.tmp: 100 files added (size: 0 Kb) (Feb 28 04:01:53) The data base backed up correctly though. How do I stop the back up and restart it? Also do I need to del the temp files that it made?

You need to send me the whole log file. Click on ‘Download backups and logs’. Then click the ‘Log’ button for the most recent backup that shows files as being included.

I would if I could, but I can’t. it never backed up files, just the data base. the last back up has no log by the way. and that was the one I started yesterday morning.

    Take care.

Are you proficient in FTP? If not, find someone who can do this:

    – FTP in to your site
    – Look in the directory wp-content/updraft

Email me any files beginning with “log.” in there.

There will be some log files. The line you copied above (Zip: backup_2013-02-28-0259_Welcome_to_tffp_the_funfilled_podcast_0181e14b5433-uploads.zip.tmp: 100 files added (size: 0 Kb)) is from where UpdraftPlus shows the last line that was logged to disk. If you look on disk in the right place, you will find the file taht it was written to.

Oh yeah I’m very proficient in tffp. lol! here is the zip file of all logs.

    Take care.

Thanks. The most recent file backup was in the file log.0181e14b5433.txt.

Odd problem. For some reason the code thinks that it is successfully adding files into the zip, but nothing is happening. The logs are not detailed enough to give me insight into what is failing, and there is no obvious place for me to add more logging to clarify things.

That being so, I’d like to debug this manually. Would you be happy to send me your FTP login details? If so, then don’t post them in this forum, of course – but send them to [email protected].

Hey just following up. What’s the status on the back up failing on this particular site? I don’t think it is the size as the faq I think ig I remember correctly said there was no size limit to worry about and it looks like my php memory is set high enough. I don’t want to se it too high as I’m on a shared server. lol!

thoughts as to why this is failing?

    Hi,

I ran out of time yesterday, but am working on it now.

    Hi Marrie,

Your site is the ultimate stress-test for a backup plugin, due to the large number of huge files.

I’ve put in some improvements to UpdraftPlus, but for now have hit a brick wall. You have MP3 files of 300Mb each, but your PHP memory limit is only 128Mb. The PHP function that adds files into zip files fails – I presume because it wants to read some, if not all, of each file into memory. I expect that it’s probably not possible to add a file to a zip which, when compressed, is bigger than memory (and MP3s are already compressed, so it’ll still be 300Mb after compression).

I’m going to add a new method for handling zip files to UpdraftPlus that can potentially break outside of PHP and its memory limits. I’ll come back to you then.

lol. I did not mean for my site to be a stress test for you. anyways, at least the data base side is working fine. Restoring that would be a pain if I ever needed to but yeah let me know via the forum what happens. and good luck and be blessed to all.
