• A friend of mine finally got the database backup of her WP…the lady who used to do the site for her refused to give it to her for a long time. now we’re going to transfer to another server. i have the db backup, i have the exported files, and i have the theme i’ve ftp’d down..as well as every single file i could ftp down..plugins etc….
is there anything else i’m going to need to reproduce the site on a new server?

    thanks for any input…

    carrie

You have everything need. Just upload the files and restore the database on the new server.

If the domain or URL has changed in any way from the original site, you’ll have to access your WordPress database via phpMyAdmin and manually change the siteurl and home values.

The URL won’t have changed, but the server will….that shouldn’t make a difference though should it?

and (sorry, being a pain!) is there any particular order this should all be put back together in? upload the database first, then ftp, then….? i would think if we put the database up, then ftp’d every single file we’d downloaded….it should just work? yes? she asks hopefully?

    =)

    No, that should be fine.

It really doesn’t matter, but I always import the database before uploading the files.
