i haven’t had any problems with wordpress yet, but today when i went to log on to my website, the back end was totally messed up. It basically looks like it went from being all nice to just running off of HTML. I have no idea what’s happened, except for the one clue that I have is that all the widget fields say that javascript is required. I’ve tried accessing it with both firefox and safari, and on different computers, with different usernames, and I don’t know where to begin to fix this. i’m running 2.9.1.

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem? If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-related problems?

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin? Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading the wp-admin and wp-includes folders from a fresh download of WordPress?

so, new problem. i tried all of those, finally settled on reloading the wp-admin and wp-includes folders, which seemed to work, but now when i go to the backend i see the dashboard for a second, and then it disappears and the page goes blank, and the browser marks the status as either “done” or “stopped.”

    Site url?

I am having exactly the same problem. My site seems to have a trojan. When the homepage is loading it says a trojan has been found in “https://news.hermison.com/” file. When the homepage is loading u can see in the bottom left on firefox that it is trying to transfer from this site! I have logged into my files on GoDaddy and in every php file there is about 20 lines of complete gibberish. I’m really not knowledgable enough to deal with this. I don’t know where to start! Have tried deleting the gibberish in index, header, footer and sidebar but suspect the problem runs a bit deeper.

My url is https://www.dailyhubbub.co.uk by the way. No idea what news.hermison.com is!
