  • %category% is the only option for categories in permalinks, but you could change what it displays by manually changing the category slug to something you think works better (using the allowed characters)

Thank you, but I think my question and problem are not that clearly written. Let me try saying it this way:

In my “Common options” for links to pages and posts, I have this and it works perfectly fine because it doesn’t involve placing any Chinese characters in the URL:
    /%year%/%monthnum%/%day%/%post_id%

However, for the links to my main category pages, I get something like this:
    https://www.domain.com/category/%e6%9c%80%

The “%e6%9c%80%” is the Unicode format of the Chinese characters and I don’t want to show that.

If I add a slug of anything, it doesn’t help change anything. For example, if I add “yoyoyo” as the slug, it only changes the above URL for the category to this:

    https://www.domain.com/yoyoyo/%e6%9c%80%

basically, instead of that category “name”, I just want to use the “category ID” so maybe it shows like this for category=1:

    https://www.domain.com/category/1/

Is this possible to do and STILL keep the “Common options” with my custom URI structure of my post and page permalinks?

    Tks!

I wasn’t clear either, I guess. ?? When you edit in Manage/Categories you can change the slug for each category to something other than the auto-sanitized slugs. Seems to work with a-z, 0-9 and dashes for separation. For my “Entertainment & Culture” category I have changed it to display /category/entertainment-and-culture instead of the standard /category/entertainment-culture/.

ahhhhhhh! Yes! Thank you! That is sooo easy, and I forgot. ?? Many thanks!
