I have spent over 10 hours trying to figure out a solution to hide posts with a specific tag, and also without another specific tag, from specific user roles. I couldn’t find anything with the exact conditions I need. This hides things from archive pages, from direct URL access, and even from the Divi blog module. Huge downfall: not hiding from search results. I have to use my own plugin to display different search results dependent on user role.

A less important note…In the circumstance that the user uses a direct URL, it would be nice to be able to have a “please sign in to access this” page (instead of 404) then redirect them back to the page they were trying to access.

Standard WordPress search results are filtered, but search plugins which use custom querying or caching are not inherently compatible. I have developed support for the Relevanssi plugin in the Pro edition.
