• Great free lightweight exit / popup plugin for newsletter signups! Page speed is very important to me so I am very happy with this one. Hope it stays lightweight and doesn’t get too bloaty overtime. Exactly what I was looking for to replace the free sluggish/buggy (WP Super Popup) one I used before. If you don’t know CSS, wBounce probably isn’t for you, however, if so, very very customizable. It works great with Wysija / Mailpoet by the way. Also, I use a responsive theme so this plugin satisfies that requirement too.

Options I’d like to see in future updates:

*This is the big one for me. Want the ability to use the plugin for a landing page pop up as well as an exit popup. There is an option in the plugin to force it to show after a certain period of time, however, it doesn’t appear that the cookie option applies to this option so it always shows the pop up on page load. UPDATE: Author fixed issue!

*This is another big one for me. I’d love to have the ability to create multiple popups and then have the ability to assign them to specific posts / pages to deliver custom marketing messages depending on the landing page. Right now wBounce is really only great for collecting email signups or delivering one generic marketing message site-wide since you can only create the one popup. UPDATE: Author advised he may be implementing this in the near future.

*Wouldn’t mind if wBounce had an option to which you can if desired prevent users from exiting until they close the popup window. Not going to be for everyone of course, but I think this would be a cool option, seen it in other plugins.

*Not necessary but would like to see. An X or similar button in top right corner, etc. where the user can close the window. Personal preference but not really necessary since you can easily click outside the window to close it. NOTE: Plugin does already give the option to put a text based close button within the body of the popup.

    Conclusion:

Great plugin, highly recommend it! If you are looking to capture newsletter subscribers, have a responsive theme, are familiar with CSS, don’t want to slow down your site, and also want to do so for free, wBounce is absolutely for you. By far my favorite pop up / exit plugin period, and I’ve tried a lot of them.

Note: Was on the verge of giving wBounce a big 5 stars, however, I ended up downgrading my review to 4 stars (4 1/2 not available!) because of the cookie option not working when forcing the pupup to show automatically. UPDATE: Author fixed issue and I updgraded my review to 5 stars! Great support from Kevin.

UPDATE: Unfortunately after my review I was experiencing various issues with the plugin (see notes above), however, Kevin was super quick to lend a hand and resolved the issues promptly! So far so great!

    Hi Mark,

great thanks for your detailed feedback!
A feature to create popups for specific posts/pages is already on my to-do list.

I fixed your issue regarding the cookie option with now available version 1.3.4.

So I will be thankful when you update your review and give me 5 stars ??

    Hi Kevin,

Thank you for looking into this, however, the cookie is not working anymore for the bounce trigger. The popup now triggers on every page load for bounce trigger but it does not for self acting fire. Before this recent update, the opposite was actually occurring. Also, I noticed that the wBounce cookie is still set to “expire when the browsing session ends” even though I have Cookie expiration set to 15 days.

    Thanks,

    Mark

    Okay, great thanks again!
Does version 1.3.4.4 fix all your mentioned issues? Including the cookie expiration issue. (Make sure to delete your cookies so that a new one can be set.)

So far so great, appears the issues are now resolved! The browser cookie now shows the correct expiration date and it’s also not popping up on every page load anymore. I will be sure to let you know if I notice anything else out of the ordinary. Thanks for resolving these issues so fast. Really appreciate it.
