Away Mode not working

Using the current version of iThemes Security and to my surprise I found out that the Away Mode does not appear to be doing anything. I have it enabled to be in force between 1AM and 7AM daily and the time stamp is showing the correct local time yet I had no problem logging in to the site during that time frame. Nor did some unauthorize person have any trouble attempting to log in during the same time period. What is up? In the past if I attempted to connect during the Away Period I was denied.
