• I usually put an image with caption before any other text in my blog posts. The problem with that is that the captions show in the excerpts I have in search-results.

    Alternatively, the image could also be a part of the excerpt, which puts a context to the caption. This option might be even better.

    Either way, I’d appreciate some help with this problem.

    You’re referring to the little two-line snipped google shows, right? Google has its own way of figuring out what to put there. Usually, you can “persuade” google to change what it displays by using the meta description tag. (Google “meta description” if you don’t know what I mean.)

    There are SEO plugins that will help you produce better meta descriptions. Check the plugins repository.
