• This plugin destroyed my website and cost me an hour of my workday troubleshooting and fixing it (deleting the plugin). I wasted my time so you don’t have to.

@dave333 I am really sorry you experienced problems. Whilst I understand you may not want to dive into things having fixed them now, I really would like to get what you experienced into a bug report. Could you perhaps tell me what happened or even report as a bug here: https://github.com/WordPress/gutenberg/issues/new?

It replaced my theme with an awful theme and prevented me from logging in to the admin to disable and delete it. I had a similar experience as described here:

Please take heed to all of the feedback you are getting from all those who have tried Gutenberg – DON’T EVEN DREAM OF MAKING THIS PART OF WORDPRESS. It’s horrible and no one wants or needs it. I know that’s harsh after all the work you’ve done but it’s the reality.

That sounds like a really bad experience, again sorry you had to go through that. As Gutenberg is just the editor and doesn’t come with a theme, I do wonder if something else happened? What theme were you using before? I would love to get to the bottom of the issue you experienced as that may help others. Thank you for any extra insight you can give.

I was using Divi. After installing Gutenberg it replaced my current theme with a horrible simplistic theme with rounded corners but was full of code and broken. None of navigation links worked. Deleting the Gutenberg plugin via FTP resolved it and returned my website to normal. Divi and others already have all the functionality Gutenberg is trying to replicate.

Here’s a screenshot of what the Gutenberg plugin did to my website.

    Gutenberg in action

This was the result of installing Gutenberg on a freshly installed website running Divi and a few basic plugins. There is no doubt that Gutenberg was responsible for replacing my website theme, proven by the fact that once the Gutenberg plugin was deleted by site was restored with the Divi theme.
