• Just forget about this plugin.
The UX design is so bad makes me think of a 1990’s web site (just as the author own web site so this is not quite a surprise after all). There is no possibility to add custom CSS except by modifying the CSS file which is not what a end user is supposed to do. There is absolutely no way anyone would pay money seeing the way the backoffice looks. Lots of very promising functionalities in the plugin description but the simplest ones do not properly function. For example the thumbnails of the members on the home page look absolutely awfull and there’s no simple way to fix that. I looked to the HTML /CSS code used for this plugin and this is extremely poor quality. Yes Mr Author, mastering php is not enough to make a great WP plugin.
Add to this that the plugin developper has no time to handle any support even for paying users. He seems not being able to figure that a backend user is not a programmer and has a particular way to despise you if you dare ask something to him.
Forget about this plugin and DO NOT spend a single euro for this. Regards.

  • I totally agree with you.

If you choose to participate as WP plugin developer, you have to live up to the obligation which follows. Especially if you charge for a product, inexpensive or not, as the Premium version.
Being arrogant or offended by criticism does not help. You have to understand what customer care is.
Some criticism is unfair and in a bad language, and of course you should not put up with everything.
But you have to live up to the responsibility of answering relevant questions, if you want to run a business.
People spend long time understanding and using this plugin, which have a lot of issues. The plugin is curious, and has a potential, but as it is, with the outdated design and functionality, to unreliable to run a professional business upon.
Here you have to trust on support if problems occur, especially if you have paying customers. I hope alternative plugins will show up in WordPress soon as the potential is there.

The developer has said that it is a side business to him and that he has no time to work on the plugin.

He has also said that if there are so much trouble and criticism he will close down the business.
Maybe that is what he should do. Either that, or live up to the responsibility of running the business professionally.

cci89wpxpert is there some reason you cannot backup before editting? Or is having WP updating turned on a must? Also if updating is turned off would this in your opinion still make a no go?
    Thanks

Carsten I noticed your opinion and I am not disagreeing with you but I did wonder sir have you developed a WP plugin and also is there a link of some agreement or quality or something to backup your opinion about WP plugins? Just asking.

    Thanks

Sorry, but I’m not sure I understand what you say @barrygen.
However I will answer your question for Carsten.
There’s no need to be a famous WP plugin developer to seize the quality of a plugin.

I make no judgement about the code in itself since I didn’t take the time to look because I thought that was unnecessary.

This plugin has been introduced to me by someone who is a WP novice. That means this kind of customer is expecting a well designed plugin with at least the elementary features that could make it exploitable by anyone. I mean this is the purpose of a CMS, isn’t it !

Rencontre – Dating Site is bad for many reasons.
First the UX is uggly and there is no way to customize it through the plugin itself. That means you have to modify the CSS files which is not what and end user is supposed to do.
The author doesn’t seem to know how hooks work. For example he didn’t use the_excerpt() function and display the full user description excerpt whithin the presentation thumbnails. Add to this that he didn’t take the time to set a CSS overflow:hidden on the HTML container and you’ll begin to understand why I say this is bad.

As I’m a native New Yorker, I wouldn’t worry about that.
