Avoid duplication with shortcode outside of page content in custom layouts

  • Since the other posts with the same problem has been closed, here is the fix I found.

    We use a themer to build page layouts. Reviews in the content area doesn’t work for us.
    We use the shortcode [WPCR_INSERT] to place the posts’ reviews in a different area, but then the default placement at the end on content did not go away. Using [WPCR_SHOW POSTID="123" NUM="5" PAGINATE="1" PERPAGE="5" SHOWFORM="1" ] works as well, but duplicates as well.

    **FIX**
    If you go to the actual post edit screen, Under WP Reviews tab, ‘Enable WP Customer Reviews of this page’ , Select NO.
    Yes, it’ll stop the display in the content area, but your shortcode in the theme layout template will still pull up the form and reviews, so you end up without the duplication.
